The Rare Fleetwood Mac's Rumours Album Cover In 1977 Hoover Vacuum Cleaner company made an agreement with Warner Bros. Records to print a special edition of the Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" album for a vacuum cleaner promotion. With every new vacuum sold, the buyer got a special edition album of "Rumours" with an alternate cover sleeve. The original "Rumours" album was released on February 4th of 1977 by Warner Bros. Records. It was an instant commercial success, selling over 10 million copies worldwide within just a month of its release. The Hoover promotion started in July of 1977, and was considered a success, with 10,000 special edition albums given out by December - even though the band faced critics saying they were "selling out". This was years before rock and roll corporate sponsorship became trendy. Now, a copy of this rare album goes for upwards of $500 on ebay!
