by Gary Pig Gold Yep, 2023 has just seen assorted Special Collectors Limited Exclusive Deluxe Super Editions from The Who, New Order, Elvis and Burt, Budokan Bob, Bananarama … and naturally that most super special deluxe band of ’em all, John Paul George and sometimes Ringo. But having left behind a mere 213 morsels of Ear Candy during a career that ended over a half-century ago, there’s definitely a finite number of ways to slice ‘n’ dice the moptops’ extremely limited audio legacy. Unless, of course, Peter Jackson and his artificial intelligentsia manage to acquire any more of the late Lennon’s boombox cassettes from which to cobble brand new [sic!] Beatles recordings. Perish, as opposed to cherish the thought. Nevertheless, after three thorough listens to the Fabs’ allegedly New and Improved Red and Blue compilations, beneath the finest headphones here in Gold Sty Studio, I have ranked each album’s combined contents, in descending order, primarily as to just how successful the 2023 re- and/or de-mixes of each sound to me. As opposed to how much I’ve actually enjoyed listening to a particular song itself over lo the many decades. Got it?
