Rutles (almost) complete Discography
Part 1: Original U.K. Albums

By Ronnie

Intro:
Since there is no complete Rutles discography out there in the internet universe, I decided to compile one as a reference for all Rutles fans! It is limited to only Rutles vinyl albums. However, this is not a complete discography, as I have left out some of the horrid '70s compilation albums (Such as 1976's "Rock & Rut Music", 1977's "Rut Songs") as well as the "red" and "blue" albums ("The Rutles 1962-66", "The Rutles 1967-70").

We start with Part 1: U.K. releases, which were "Rutle-approved" in both song content and cover art.

In Part 2, we will show the U.S. discography, as well as discussing a few rarities.

Intermission - Behind "The Mauve Album"

Right: Ron & Dirk at 1968 press conference for the release of "The Rutles"

At a November 1968 press conference for the release of "The Rutles" (a.k.a. The Mauve Album), Ron & Dirk fielded questions about the album...

Reporter: Why did you pick the mauve colour for the cover?

Ron: Well, me and Chastity have been wearing mauve clothes as a protest agains't the war. Red is the colour of violence, ya know. And white is the colour of peace. So, when you mix peace into war you get mauve.

Reporter: Does the number on each album have a signifigance?

Dirk: Yes, we are going to be holding a raffle and the person with the winning number gets to have dinner and tea with Stig.
