"Simply Having a Wonderful Hanukkah Time..."
Paul McCartney's
Hanukkah album

First was the news of Paul McCartney's conversion to Judaism, after his marriage to Jewess Nancy Shevell. Now comes McCartney's newest release: a Hanukkah album! The album, entitled "Hanukkah Swings!" is being sold exclusively at Einstein Bros Bagels - the largest retail 'bagel' company in the nation. Paul's 2007 release, "Memory Almost Full" was sold exclusively at coffee retail giant Starbucks rather than his longtime label EMI.

The album includes, "Wonderful Hanukkah Time" (a remake of his 1979 Christmas tune, "Wonderful Christmas Time"), which is being promoted as a single, along with a new video for the song.

The Beatles Rabbi Saul album
Right: Rare Beatles 1967 "Rabbi Saul" album

Of course the Beatles were no strangers to Judaism. Their unreleased Jewish concept album, "Rabbi Saul" was a tribute album to their Jewish manager, Brian Epstein.

It contained such songs as:

  • "Hey Juden"
  • "Helter Schmelter"
  • "If I Kvell"
  • "Sexy Seder"
  • "The Schul On The Hill"

Even rarer is the little-known "Deli Cover" for their 1966 "Yesterday And Today" album. So named because the Beatles were pictured working in a kosher deli. Manager Brian Epstein nixed the cover, thinking that it might be misconstrued as being anti-semitic, the cover subsequently being replaced with the infamous "Butcher Cover" (which was also withdrawn).
