What If...
Rock Stars as Actors

Intro:
There's that old adage that "all rock stars want to be actors and all actors want to be rock stars". While some have been able to successfully the transition, these are few and far between.

The following are some "what if" scenarios based on actual events…

Elvis Presley - "A STAR IS BORN" 1976
In 1975 Barbara Streisand approached Elvis about playing the male lead in the third remake of "A Star Is Born". While this might have been a golden chance for Elvis to redeem himself as an actor (after his horrid '60s movies), Colonel Parker pretty much killed the idea and we can only wonder "what if?"

John Denver - "SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND" 1978
John Denver was almost signed to play Billy Shears in the 1978 movie "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". Instead, Peter Frampton was chosen for the role.

Micky Dolenz - "HAPPY DAYS TV SHOW" 1974
Micky Dolenz of The Monkees auditioned for the role of Fonzie on the series "Happy Days", but lost out to Henry Winkler.

John Lennon - "JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR" 1973
While John Lennon wasn't offered the role of Jesus in the 1973 film version of "Jesus Christ Superstar", Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber did offer him the role of Jesus in the musical on December 3, 1969. Still smarting from the whole "Beatles bigger than Jesus" fiasco from 1966, Lennon turned it down.
