What Goes On?
By Walrus Gumboot

Here we are at the beginning of a new decade, or the end of an old one, depending upon your point of view, and still no sign of anymore unreleased material from Apple.

The Boxed sets were wonderful, but as usual the Apple Camp has squeezed the fans until the pips squeaked. Not content with relieving us of the best part of £400 for the Remasters (and worth every penny in my opinion...see earlier review) in December an allegedly limited edition of an Apple shaped usb drive containing the stereo remasters was released.

In the UK they issued a "box" containing Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sergeant Pepper and Abbey Road. As a collectors item!!

Did someone say Greed?

As an obsessive must have everything collector, I have for the first time ever had to miss out… I simply do not have the money!!! Nor do many others I would imagine.

So what would we like to see released next?

  • How about the Esher Demos?

  • It's common knowledge that EMI have pristine sounding tapes of almost everything from the White Album.

  • A properly synchronized Let It Be DVD

  • But apparently Paul and Ringo "don't like" the negative view it gives of the break up!

  • Carnival of Light

  • Yeh, maybe /sometime/never?

  • And finally on the band front, where the hell is Now and Then?

  • The Threetles worked very hard on this at the time of the Anthology releases, but for some reason it was abandoned. Latterly Paul is rumoured to have been working on it again and has actually finished the song. The Beatles were keeping it under wraps for a future release as either an ITUNES download bonus song or on some sort of new compilation album.

But the story doesn't end there....there might even be more reunion songs in the vaults!

  • Grow Old With Me, and a new McCartney / Harrison composition All For Love.

  • Wouldn't it be wonderful if these actually saw the light of day?

How about October 2012 as a release date..? It was 50 years ago today etc..

On the solo front, things are slightly more positive, we have Ringo's new album later this month and rumours abound about Paul releasing a 4 CD set of Cold Cuts which he apparently recommitted himself to last year.

We live in hope !!
